Salma Al Baloushi is the first Emirati female to rise to the rank of first officer at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways. At just 24 years old, her achievement earned her an entry in The 100 Greatest Women in Aviation, a book looking at women’s contribution to the growing sector. She is an #Inspiration for many young Emirati men and women interested in aviation.

What inspired you to pursue piloting?
Passion and love of doing something different. To make my parents and my country proud.
What’s your favourite moment when you are flying a plane?
After landing and parking - when some of the passengers are waiting to say "hi" to the pilot.
